Man attacked, robbed on Main Street

A man was hit from behind and robbed on Main Street early Sunday morning.

Amherst Police Assistant Chief Timothy Green said the 22-year-old male victim was walking on Main Street toward Bailey Avenue at 4:50 a.m. when he was struck on the back of the head.

He was then tackled to the ground by two people. No further description was available.

The one suspect reportedly punched the victim while the second rifled through his pockets. A wallet and cash were taken. The suspects were last seen leaving the scene on foot.

Police recovered the wallet, which was missing a small amount of cash.

The victim suffered scrapes to the face and a cut on his forehead.
