Verizon seeks grant proposals

Verizon Wireless is seeking grant proposals for domestic violence prevention and education projects in the Buffalo area. Qualifying nonprofit organizations are invited to apply for a $7,500 grant, made possible through the company's HopeLine phone recycling program. The grant is being offered to enable agencies, shelters and other domestic violence advocacy groups to introduce or expand programs, add equipment or enhance facilities to better serve clients. The recipient of the grant will be announced in October, National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Project proposals must be postmarked or e-mailed by Sept. 14. Verizon Wireless will give strong preference to grant proposals that: emphasize the benefits of new or expanded programs or services, include an implementation plan with a defined beginning and end and define measurable results to qualify for funding. The applicant must be designated a public or private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a valid Internal Revenue Service tax ID based in Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee or Wyoming counties. For an application and additional information, call 585-321-7264.
