Health fair workers deserve thanks

I am writing to publicly thank the more than 1,500 residents, health care providers and volunteers who worked to make this year's Family Health Fair (held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Amherst Senior Center) such a tremendous success.

For the past nine years it has been my pleasure to co-sponsor this important health care event with Kaleida Health and more than 80 independent providers of health services from our area. Providing free health screenings and healthy lifestyle information to Amherst residents and seniors is the primary goal of the event each year.

Successful community outreach events like the Family Health Fair could never happen without the dedicated assistance of volunteers and participants. Sincere thanks to all who played a role in the planning and operation of the event. I am also grateful to The Amherst Bee for advertising and promoting the event again this year. As a result of all this hard work, hundreds of Amherst families are now on the road to a healthier future.

For that, I am truly grateful.
