• Tickets are now on sale for Christian rocker Jeremy Camp's "unplugged" concert, 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7 at Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church, 8445 Greiner Road, Williamsville. Tickets are $17 general or $20 artist circle, and are available by visiting www.itickets.com or www.kingdombound.org or by calling 633-1117 or 800-461-4485.

• The fourth biannual Bud Coleman Award was presented to Janice P. Barrett for her support of MusicalFare Theatre. Barrett was the first board president of MusicalFare. She and her husband, Barry, have been significant financial supporters of MusicalFare. Barrett has been active as a consultant to MusicalFare for applications to area foundations and it is estimated that in the past 10 years, more than $300,000 has been generated for MusicalFare through these efforts.

• The Buffalo Museum of Science's Teen Skills Initiative (TSI), a program designed for under-represented high school girls in the City of Buffalo, was chosen to receive a $15,000 gift by First Niagara Financial Group's newly established Mentoring Matters Initiative, which will finance a variety of programs that have the capability to positively change and enhance the lives of young adults. The Buffalo Museum of Science was one of 12 WNY programs to receive funding from this statewide gift program.

• A $15,625 Enhancing the Visitor Experience grant was awarded to the Landmark Society of Western New York and the Western Erie Canal Alliance, two nonprofit organizations dedicated to historic preservation and community revitalization in Western New York. The grant, funded by the federal Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, will provide training for 300 small business employees in traditional downtowns or "Main Streets" of western canal communities.
