Megan Wagner is getting ready for one thing - her first Buffalo winter.
"I have heard so many stories," said Wagner who moved from the New Jersey shore and is originally from southwestern Indiana. "My husband (Ben) and I are trying to prepare as best we can."
Wagner was recently named the new marketing manager for the Eastern Hills Mall and so far, she said she is "loving Western New York."
"Everything about the move to Buffalo has been so positive," Wagner said, adding that she and Ben are currently living in Williamsville. "The people, the community... everything has just been wonderful."
The Wagners moved to the Queen City after Ben was named the new "voice" of the Buffalo Bisons' baseball team.
"We are really appreciative for the opportunities that have been given to both of us," Wagner said. "With both our jobs, it gives us a real chance to get to know the Western New York community and the people."
Wagner said the transition to the area has been easy, and she is looking forward to being a part of the many events hosted by Eastern Hills Mall.
"There are so many events that have become staples in the community, thanks to Eastern Hills," she said. "There's Mall-O-Ween, Summer in February, the Children's Summer Theater Camp. I'm looking forward to be able to participate in all of them. It's going to be great."
Wagner said her fellow co-workers have made her feel at home since she started the job.
"Everyone is so receptive to new ideas," Wagner said. "There's a very 'can-do' attitude amongst us all at the mall. There's a big family feel in our offices."
Wagner said she is focusing on continuing to learn the ropes of the mall as well as generating new ideas to increase mall traffic.
"We want to promote the mall as a place where families can come together, go shopping, enjoy lunch or dinner, and get to participate in all these great events," Wagner said. "The mall is all about a sense of community, and I'm looking forward to being part of it. There is always something different going on at Eastern Hills Mall, and we are going to continue that."
Wagner graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor's degree in science with a double major in business administration and marketing.
