      The Mathewson McCarthy 12U tournament team captured its second straight title on Sunday afternoon, winning the West Seneca Tournament. It was the team's final tournament of the 2007 travel season. Mathewson McCarthy belted out 13 home runs.

      The Mathewson McCarthy "Senior East" Cardinals and Yankees entered the championship round with one goal in mind - end the season with a win. The Yankees needed two wins to claim the championship and the Cardinals needed one win.

      The Connie Mack Firehawks, paced by the strong pitching of Jessica Banning, beat the Kenmore Lady Blue Devils, 10-4, to win the 14U division of the Connie Mack Tournament. The Firehawks dominated throughout, outscoring their opponents 66-4 in an unbeaten march to the championship.

Injury knocks Mesi out of fight
      Town of Tonawanda heavyweight "Baby" Joe Mesi will miss this weekend's scheduled fight against Sherman "The Tank" Williams due to a minor back injury. This is the third time Mesi has cancelled a bout this year. He was supposed to fight Rafael Pedro June 2 and an unnamed opponent July 27.
