Fall Ball to begin in September

The fall no longer has to be a time when the lacrosse sticks get put away until the indoor or spring season.

Buffalo Lacrosse Academy's Fall Ball is an eight-on-eight lacrosse league open to any interested lacrosse player in the Buffalo area. Fall Ball runs on Sunday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sept. 23 and 30 and Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28, with Nov. 4 serving as the rain date.

The first hour is used for warm-up and instruction. The second hour will post games consisting of seven field players and a goalie. The fields are 40 yards wide and 80 yards long, reducing the space, so players must learn to play in traffic. Eight-on-eight lacrosse allows players to touch the ball five times more often than 10 players on the field, further promoting individual skill development.

Each registrant will receive a jersey and instruction from highly qualified coaches. If there is enough interest at the various age groups, teams will be assembled for area fall tournaments for an additional fee.
