The Western New York Bulldogs travel baseball team will hold tryouts for the 2008 season at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 22 and 29, at Westwood Park in Lancaster. Tryouts will be for the 14U team.

Ok Hee Kim hit a hole in one on fifteenth hole of Audubon Golf Course on July 28. He used a 3-club to drive the ball 154 yards.

Michael McDonald of Amherst used a driver to hit a hole on the 301-yard 13th hole of Terry Hills Golf Course in Batavia on Monday, Aug. 6. The shot also gave him a double eagle.

Williamsville Jr. Football needs more players to complete teams at the 130-pound (ages 11-13) division. For more information, call Todd at 863-8197.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary has teamed up with the US Coast Guard to offer free vessel safety checks, a boater information booth, and information on becoming a member of the Auxiliary from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11 at Beaver Island State Park, 2136 W Oakfield Road, Grand Island.

At 1 p.m., the Coast Guard will present a live helicopter rescue swimmer demonstration showing how they rescue boaters from the water. A question and answer session with the crew will follow.

The Lancaster /Depew Heat, one of the area's premier Tournament and Travel Softball organizations, will hold open tryouts for its 2008 teams from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 and 14 at Walden Pond Park. Participation in each night's tryout is strongly recommended.

The Heat annually fields highly competitive teams at the 10-and-under through 16-and-under levels. Additional tryouts will be held Aug. 9 for those unable to attend the other tryouts.

The WNY Elite 18U girls fastpitch softball college showcase team is holding tryouts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at the Amherst Pepsi Center, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive.

WNY Elite 18U just completed its first year of playing ASA Gold competition, finishing with a 54-15-3 record. They play a fall and summer schedule.

The Elite is looking for girls who are freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school. Eight players from the team are attending college in the fall to continue their softball careers.

The Howard and Sandy Voss Memorial Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, Aug. 20 at Glen Oak Golf Course, 711 Smith Road, East Amherst.

Registration and lunch are at 11 a.m. with the tournament starting at noon. Dinner, awards and basket raffles are scheduled for 5 p.m.

The cost is $150 per player or $525 per foursome. Dinner only is $50. All proceeds will go toward Meals on Wheels of WNY.

There is no residency restriction and the cost is $90 per player. The deadline is Aug. 11.

The Bennett High School Sports Hall of Fame has announced its inductees for 2007, who will enter the hall at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 in a ceremony at the school auditorium.

Tickets are available at the Main St. front door for $20 and includes refreshments and a souvenir program. This year's inductees are athletes Michael Austin (Class of 1978), Vory Billups ('84), Levance Brown ('71), Mary Evanco-Caryk ('76), Theresa Friol ('81), Marvin Hemphill ('84), Lee Jones ('48), Robert Jones ('90), Roger Lowe ('51), Vincent McCarthy (''79), Bruce Mesches ('64), Special Achievement Award winner Art Serotte ('57), Earle Hannel Memorial Award recipient Emery Fisher ('45), and Girls' Sports Pioneers Karen Carr ('73), Kathleen Carr ('73), and Tamiko Thompson ('73).

The Riverside Soccer Club coach Hector Vasquez will hold tryouts for the U15 and U16 girls teams from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday Aug. 16 and 21 and from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at Erie Community College North Campus, 6205 Main St., Williamsville.
