UBAM swimmers shine at summer Junior Olympics
Mike Anderson wins high point; Jamie Ruh rules 50 free

Fifty-one UB Amherst Swim Club swimmers participated in last weekend's Summer Junior Olympics this past weekend at the Webster Aquatics Center.

Combining for over 150 lifetime best times and over 1800 total points, 500 points more than last year's team, UBAM finished fourth amongst the 32-team field.

Fourteen-year-old Michael Anderson led the way by capturing individual Niagara District titles in the 1500 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 100 free, 200 IM and 200 back and swimming away with the 13-14 boys individual high point crown. From the girls side, 13-year-old Jamie Ruh swam to a District championship when she stopped the clock in a blistering 29.08 in her 50 free. Ruh also placed third in the 800 free and 100 breast.

Other top three individual performances were turned in by Stephen Berus (200 breast), Matt Geiger (200 back), Michael Lin (400 free), Marc Ruszaj (200 butterfly), and Bailey Woodling (100 fly).
