Amherst High fall sports tryouts, mandatory meetings slated

All Amherst High School athletes who will be trying out for a fall sport are to report to the high school's South Gymnasium at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20 for an informational meeting for the fifth annual varsity gold fundraiser.

All athletes must have a physical before starting practice. Physicals are good for one year. For any athlete who is unable to obtain a physical with their private physician

before Aug. 20, call the Athletic Office at 362-3020 to schedule one with the school physician on the morning of Monday, Aug. 13 or Thursday, Aug. 16.

Practices will begin on Aug. 13 for varsity and JV football. Cross country, field hockey, boys and girls soccer, girls swimming, girls tennis, and boys and girls volleyball practices will begin on Aug. 20. Varsity golf tryouts will be held the week of August 25. Boys and girls gymnastics will begin Sept. 5.

A mandatory meeting for all varsity and JV football parents and athletes will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the high school auditorium.

A mandatory meeting for all other fall sports' athletes and parents is slated for 7 p.m. on Aug. 21.
