Lights out for now at South football field A structural problem with one of the light poles surrounding the football field at Williamsville South could lead to no night home football games this fall. Williamsville Director of Athletics Jim Rusin said on Tuesday that a recent safety inspection showed wear on the light pole in the North end of the field that faces the scoreboard and is directly behind the baseball dugout. On the side of the caution, Rusin said all four light poles will be taken down until they are fixed. There are currently four night varsity football games scheduled at South beginning in Week One when Jamestown is scheduled to play Williamsville North. The other three night varsity football games are Lew-Port at South in Week Two, North at South in Week Four and Starpoint at South in Week Eight. The light poles were installed in the early 1980s. |
