Carly's Crossing set for Aug. 18

Roswell Park Cancer Institute is seeking youths and adults to fundraise and swim in an open-water swimming event to benefit pediatric cancer research and patient care programs.

Swimmers will dive into the waters at the Buffalo Small Boat Harbor at Gallagher Beach on Saturday, Aug. 18 to continue what has become a family-oriented tradition presented by the Roswell Park Alliance Community Advisory Board and Creditors Interchange. All proceeds raised will benefit Carly's Club for Kids & Cancer Research at Roswell Park.

Carly's Crossing features options of both one-mile and 600-yard noncompetitive courses, with the additional option of a one-mile timed course - new this year. The event is open to competitive and recreational swimmers of all ages who are willing to raise a minimum of $50 in pledges.

Food, entertainment, family activities and a swimmer recognition ceremony will follow at Gallagher Beach. An Olympic swimmer from Team USA will be on hand to sign autographs.

Last year's event involved 325 swimmers who raised more than $100,000 for groundbreaking research seeking cures and patient programs supporting children and families facing cancer.

For registration and sponsorship details or to support this year's swimmers through a secure online pledge, visit www.CarlysCrossing.com or call Robin Hace at 845-4100.
