CHA presents 'Wines, Wheels & Songs'
Event to benefit bike path safety initiatives
by KIMBERLY M. KARCHER Clarence Editor

The Clarence Hollow Association will present "Wines, Wheels and Songs" from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at the Western New York Event Centre, 11163 Main St., near Davison Road.

In conjunction with the wine event, national recording artist Pat Shea will perform a concert, "In Memory of Joan Diver," beginning at 8 p.m.

"This is going to be a wonderful opportunity for the entire Western New York community to get together, enjoy each other's company, enjoy fine wines and cheeses and listen to the beautiful music of Pat Shea," said JoAnn Barnes, secretary for the Hollow Association. "We will also be honoring a wonderful woman who was taken away so suddenly and so tragically.

"Pat's music is so beautiful, and I think this event can help serve as a continued healing method for our community as we cope together," Barnes continued. "We are hoping for a tremendous turnout since Joan touched so many lives, and we will be working toward making our community a safer place to live."

A significant portion of the proceeds will go toward the purchase of surveillance equipment for the Clarence bike paths.

Barnes said Shea agreed without hesitation to do the concert pro bono.

"The entire Western New York community was affected by what happened," said Shea, who is originally from West Seneca. "We will be raising awareness and creating a safer community for everyone; how can anyone say no to supporting that. I'm really looking forward to the evening."

Tickets for the event will be $25 presale or $30 at the door.

The price of the evening includes the concert, a complimentary wine glass and an opportunity to sample wine from more than 25 wineries as well as cheese samplings and sales from Kutter's Cheese.

"Wineries from the Finger Lakes region, the Niagara Wine Trail and Chautauqua and Erie wine trails will be at the event," said Barnes. "It's going to be a great evening of food, fun, song and family."

The evening will also include a Chinese auction, raffles, a fine-wine auction and food sales from One Eyed Jack's Restaurant and Catering.
