Many thanks and continued success. .I have just met the future mayor of Williamsville and his name is Jeffrey Kingsley. In just one month's time on the village board, Kingsley has brought fiscal responsibility and direction to the board. As liaison for the mill restoration committee, he has accomplished in one meeting what the village has yet to accomplish in three and a half years of ownership. I hope the village truly appreciates the efforts he has put forth and continue supporting him in his initiatives. .Bill Kindel is now doing an about-face on land preservation. For the past 20 years or so, he acquiesced to whatever the developers wanted. Now it's too late for this land preservation; the town is already overdeveloped with major traffic problems, needed road repair, tax abatements to businesses and growing property taxes. .I am totally in support of Council Member Bill Kindel's stand on green space. I know he has done a lot of good work on Nature View Park and Margaret Louise Park, and I think this is something excellent for the town. The children need green space. It's very important for the Town of Amherst. .I wonder if something could be done to address the geese at Bassett Park. I recently attended a concert, and it was very hard to even walk and put one foot in front of the other without stepping in geese droppings. I realize there is a leash law in Amherst, and I think the people at the park are doing a wonderful job of keeping their dog waste picked up. I wonder if the parks department could do something to divert the geese from Bassett Park or clean up after them. It was pretty disgusting. .To the person who is sick of seeing the signs for the lost dog, Mugsy, you obviously have never had a pet. The signs should stay up for as long as it takes. Dogs have been lost for years, but eventually returned to their owners. It sounds like you need something to do. How about volunteering at the SPCA? It will add to your life. .Amherst Town Supervisor Satish Mohan campaigned far and wide on the premise that he would reduce town taxes while at the same time increasing services. He further stated that in that process no town employee would lose their job. Then, after the election and before he took office, Mohan got on public media and said too many people work here. This, of course, is Mohan in his usual shoot-from-the-hip manner. In the first two years Mohan has been town supervisor, those types of missteps and mistakes are things he can never take back and are in fact costing town taxpayers money. .Well, guess what? Waste Management System doesn't seem to like our nice, blue totes. Well, I do. Waste Management System emptied my tote, left the top open and placed my blue tote in the middle of the driveway. Why can't they put the tote back on the grass, where it belongs? .It never ceases to amaze me when people think government is giving us freebies. I deeply sympathize with the people in sinking homes. The idea of tax exemptions means other taxpayers will in essence be paying to make up for the lower taxes. The people who should be paying for these repairs are the developers, builders and town officials who allowed the homes to be built on land that was not suitable for home construction in the first place. .Here it is August. Do you see anyone using sidewalks? No. They are all walking, running and roller-blading in the streets, so why do you make such a big deal about clearing sidewalks in the winter? Isn't it time to do away with another useless law? |
