Every story is a love story

"Elton John & Tim Rice's AIDA" will feature Michael Hunsaker as Radames and Nikki Renee Daniels as AIDA, Aug. 9-19 at Artpark.
Visit Egypt via the Robert Moses Parkway and take in a musical love triangle when "Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA" comes to Artpark Aug. 9-19.

"Elton John & Tim Rice's AIDA" tells the story of Aida, a Nubian princess stolen from her country, Amneris, an Egyptian princess, and Radames, the soldier they both love.

Memorable songs from the musical include "Every Story Is a Love Story," "Written in the Stars," "Easy as Life" "Elaborate Lives," "My Strongest Suit" and others.

The four-time Tony Award-winning blockbuster musical adaptation of Giuseppe Verdi's opera will feature a 28-member cast, many with Broadway and national touring exper ience.

Playing the title role is Nikki Renee Daniels, who recently performed the role of Fantine in the Broadway revival of "Les Miserables." She has also performed on Broadway in "Nine," "The Look of Love," "Little Shop of Horrors," "Lestat" and "AIDA."

Radames will be played by Michael Hunsaker, who has appeared in national tours of "Ragtime" and "Chess." He has also been seen on television in "Sex and the City," "As the World Turns" and "All My Children." His film work includes "The Shaft" with Naomi Watts, and "On the Jag."

Jacqueline Bayne, who plays Amneris, was recently seen on Broadway in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" as Christine, and her national touring credits include "Ragtime," "Some Like It Hot" and "Irving Berlin's White Christmas." She has been seen on television on "Guiding Light" and HBO's action film "Backstreet Justice."

Artpark's production is directed by Randall Kramer, choreographed by Lynne Kurdziel-Formato, with musical direction by Michael Hake and set design by Eric Appleton.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9, 10 and 11; 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12; 2 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16; 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17 and 18; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at Artpark, 450 S. Fourth St., Lewiston.
