Central Amherst holding fundraiser to improve facility

Central Amherst Little League is working in conjunction with town and government officials, as well as private corporations, to secure funding to make significant improvements to their complex located at 480 Wehrle Drive in Amherst.

Improvements include the building of restroom facilities, a new snack stand and a paved parking lot.

Construction will be costly and the league will be responsible for a significant portion of funding for these projects. As part of their fundraising initiative, Central Amherst will be installing a commemorative brick walkway behind the backstop of the "Major" Diamond.

The walkway will feature all children and families that are now a part of the league, past players and families, and area businesses that have supported the league throughout the years.

Commemorative bricks, with two lines to engrave, will be available for purchase in 12x12 granite ($500, 19 characters per line) and 6x9 brick ($150, 17 characters per line). An additional line is $10. A custom business logo for the 12x12 brick is $68. Construction could begin as early as this fall.

A third option, a 14x20 commemorative watercolor rendering of the CALL complex, is $30 (print) or $50 (plaque-mounted).
