Power Play Academy held first Future Stars hockey clinic at Pepsi Center The Amherst Pepsi Center was the site of the summer's first Future Stars clinic, run by Power Play Academy. Eighteen boys and girls participated in the two-day clinic held July 12-13, which focused on power skating, puck handling, speed and agility. The campers ranged in age from 5 to 12 and included house and travel players from around Western New York. Power Play Academy conducts clinics and camps dedicated to developing the skating and hockey skills of youth and adult players in and around Western New York, from novice to elite. Power Play was founded by Craig Maslona, a Level 4 USA hockey coach who is head coach of the University at Buffalo women's hockey team, Jody Rosen, assistant coach of the UB women's team and an Amherst youth hockey coach, and Scott Luce, a coach in youth sports for over 10 years. They were joined on the ice by Vicky Maslona, a former Niagara University goaltender and current goaltender coach for the UB women's team. The camps included on-ice instruction, dry-land activities, and classroom and video review. For more information, visit ppahockey. com. |
