Campbell trades hockey stick for golf club to benefit Summit

The Summit Educational Resources eighth annual golf tournament will be held on Aug. 1 with special guest Buffalo Sabres defenseman Brian Campbell.

Campbell will return for a second consecutive appearance as host of the tournament.

"Summit is a great organization that helps kids with disabilities throughout Western New York," Campbell said. "I'm proud to be associated with the children, families and staff, and I'm happy to contribute to the success of this wonderful event that supports them."

This year's event will be held Monday, Aug. 6 at Lancaster Country Club and is chaired by Snyder resident Dave Aston.

"As a parent of a child with a disability, I know firsthand how vital Summit is to the Western New York community," Aston said, who has worked on the event for five years. "It's been extremely gratifying to see how this event has grown over the years thanks to an outpouring of community support."

Other members of the committee include Mike Wulkan and Lori Jureller, both of Williamsville, and Jim Harrington of East Amherst.
