Girl Scout Council names first male president Michael Osika of Snyder has been named the first male president in the history of the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo and Erie County, Inc.'s Board of Directors. He was named to the position at the annual meeting held at Iroquois Middle School. Osika has been a member of the board of directors for six years, serving as treasurer. "Mike is extremely talented and committed to the advancement of girls and young women. He is innovative and a change agent for this community," Cindy Odom, CEO of the Girl Scout Council, said. In November 2006, Osika was recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals for his work with the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo and Erie County. He is also a member of the Martin House Restoration Corp. and a fundraiser for the Women and Children's Hospital Foundation. He is vice president, finance and operations, for the Buffalo Home Furnishings Group, Inc. Also appointed to the board were Doug Sosnowski of Amherst, to member-at-large, and Williamsville North sophomore Laura Lonski, to serve a one-year term as a Senior Girl Scout. Sosnowski is also involved with Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled, Christ the King Church and the Webster Avenue Family Resource Center. Lonski is a member of Senior Girl Scout Troop No. 253, a Silver Award recipient and a volunteer with the Buffalo City Mission and Kids Voting. |
