Russell's Tree and Shrub Farm teams up with American Cancer Society

Like many, an employee of Russell's Tree and Shrub Farm was touched by cancer through the loss of a loved one and sought a way in which to make a difference. This desire led to the creation of a fundraiser to fight against cancer.

Russell's actively sought support from their vendors to create a fundraising event. After consideration of the many cancer-related organizations, Russell's selected the Western New York Region of the American Cancer Society as the recipient of the event's proceeds.

The "Plant Hope, Grow a Cure" event will take place during the month of August. Russell's does not traditionally hold "sales"; however, for the "Plant Hope, Grow a Cure" event, the nursery will offer 15 varieties of plants/shrubs at a 25 percent discount. A portion of the sales will go to support the Western New York Region of the American Cancer Society.

"The plants and shrubs available for this promotion are not end-of-the-season plants but fresh varieties brought in especially for this American

Cancer Society event," Mark Ziemba, retail operations manager for Russell's Tree and Shrub Farm, said. "Pink pillars at the nursery will designate the featured plants."

"The Plant Hope, Grow a Cure event is a beautiful way in which one can support cancer research

and local services offered within

our community," said Gretchen Leffler, Western New York regional vice president for the American Cancer Society. "We are grateful to Russell's for choosing the American Cancer Society as its charity of choice."

Russell's Tree and Shrub Farm is located at 9800 Transit Road, East Amherst. For information, call 689-6764.
