BOARD MEMBER - Amherst resident Patrick W. Welch, Ph.D., president of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 77, has been elected to the Vietnam Veterans of America National Board of Directors as an at-large director at the organization's 13th National Convention in Springfield, Ill.
L. Marie Jackson of Amherst, has earned the position of associate supervisor. A nine-year employee, she has been assigned to the U.S. Postal Service Buffalo Processing and Distribution Center. She completed a 16-week training course to be eligible for the promotion.

BNI Business Makers will meet from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday Aug. 9 at Marinaccio's Restaurant, 5877 Main St. in Williamsville. Caroyln Leed, an attorney with Sargent & Collins Law Firm will be guest speaker and present "Real Estate." For information, call 913-1541.

Daemen College Buffalo Chapter of the Alumni Association is hosting a poetry reading and book signing by Dr. Peter Siedlecki at Café Allegro, 1374 Hertel Ave., in Buffalo, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15. Maureen Buchanan, class of '73 and owner of the cafe is also hosting.

Hunt Real Estate ERA's Amherst Branch is having its annual United Way Yard Sale. The Amherst Branch, 4363 Main St., will be holding the sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. All proceeds benefit the United Way.
