Royals double up Tigers, win Lou Gehrig juniors crown

The Royals defeated the Tigers, 10-5, on July 17 for the Lou Gehrig Juniors softball championship. The Royals defeated the Tigers, 10-5, on July 17 to win the Lou Gehrig Juniors softball championship.

Sarah McMahon pitched three innings, drove in four runs and scored twice. Hannah O'Sullivan pitched three innings, including pitching out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the top of the fifth inning.

Dana Larkin had two hits and two runs scored. Maria Cicatello played second base and scored a run. Shortstop Robyn Babbitt scored a run. Third-baseman Lauren Koch had a single and scored a run. Maria Giangreco had a key hit during a four-run rally in the fourth.

Second-baseman Elizabeth Principe had a single and scored a run. Haley Taggart played third base. Lizzy Viola hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning.

Emma Robinson and Alyssa Cartwright and call-ups Sharon Trigilio, Ally Thomas, Meghan O'Sullivan and Rachel Favre also contributed to the Royals' playoff run.
