Taste to showcase pie-baking contest

The Taste of Williamsville "Savor the Flavor" will host the annual pie-baking contest Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Island Park, behind Village Hall, 5565 Main St.

No registration is required. Just bring a homemade pie to the Island by 11:45 a.m. the day of the taste. Judging will take place from noon to 3 p.m.

Last year's winners included Judy Knab, who won the top prize for her peach-raspberry pie. Other winners were caramel apple, cherry blueberry flag and pumpkin caramel pies.

The desserts will be judged by five members of the community. A ribbon will be awarded to the grand prize winner, plus a $50 certificate to a participating Taste restaurant.

Prizes for the Best Fruit Pie, Best Presentation and Best Crust categories will also be awarded. Honorable mentions will also be given for each category.
