.Amherst Supervisor Satish Mohan is in danger of hurting his arm while patting himself on the back for finally sitting down with the highway workers union, 19 months into his term, when he should have sat down with them even before he took office. It's an insulting process, and the education of Satish Mohan at taxpayer expense is too hard to bear.

.My family was at the fireworks on July 4 at UB. The music was so loud. It's nice to hear your family with the oohs and ahhs, but the music overpowered everything. It was too loud and too much.

.The garden walk was a wonderful opportunity to get a peek into the history of our beautiful Village of Williamsville. Congratulations to everyone.

.We have a new Amherst Community Center that's been vacant since the Lutheran Church moved out of the building on Bailey Avenue. Nothing is being done; neighbors are using the parking lot as their private basketball court with music blasting. Other people have used the parking lot for street hockey. When they brought the new waste totes for this side of Amherst, they left their garbage in the weeds when they ate their lunch. The refuse department has been called; nothing has been done. There are rats in our back yards that face Bailey Avenue.

.Could someone please take a look at the flag at the Clearfield Recreation Center? It is a tattered rag, and it is disrespectful to our flag.

.After reading the article regarding the Daisy Lane residents being able to determine if they do or do not have street lights, this is incorrect. If every other neighborhood in the town has street lights, that street should have them as well. They are putting themselves and everyone else in danger if there is ever an emergency there. At the very least, they should be required to put large reflective or lit house numbers on their mailboxes, homes or at the street.

.I'm a 22-year Town of Amherst Highway Department employee. How can The Amherst Bee report conditions in our proposed new contract when we, the employees, have not been given the new contract to review before we vote? Is this another Dr. Mohan ploy? Wishful thinking on his part? Don't be too sure of yourselves until we get a look at this contract to make sure it is going to be OK for us.

.It was my understanding the trees that were being removed by the Town of Amherst under the FEMA money was for curbside trees technically owned by the town. How is it that one homeowner on Tennyson Terrace had a large tree removed that was sitting in the middle of their front yard, not at curbside at all?

.As a Klein Road resident, I'm appalled at the Klein Road residents who are anti-sidewalks. These residents are not the ones who ride bicycles, jog, Roller blade, dog walk or push strollers. I'll bet they would be the first to complain if I walked my stroller across their lawn to avoid speeders driving next to the shoulder of the road. I guess it will take a pedestrian getting killed on the road by their house before they realize that sidewalks are definitely a necessity. These people don't live in the country. If they wanted country-style living, they shouldn't live in Williamsville.
