Bedenko
Clarence resident Alan Bedenko announced his candidacy for the Erie County Legislature representing the 4th District during a press conference Monday evening in front of Clarence Town Hall.

Bedenko, a Web blogger on BuffaloPundit. com, said he is looking to "playing an active part in setting the course for Erie County's future."

Bedenko who typically comments on numerous issues in Western New York on his Web blog, noted on Monday

that for some time he has been worried about the future of Erie County

and the direction in which it heading.

"We pay among the highest taxes in the nation, and Albany's unfunded mandates are killing us," Bedenko said during his speech. "From 2000 to 2006, our Republican governor, county executive, assemblyperson, senator and county executive have done nothing to alleviate either problem.

"We know all too well what divides us in this community," he continued. "What we tend to forget is what unites us."

Bedenko said if elected he would be open to new ideas and ways of doing business within the county.

The 4th District is comprised of the Towns of Clarence and Newstead and parts of Amherst and Cheektowaga.

The seat is currently held by Legislator Michael Ranzenhofer.
