Amherst Skating Club places in Lake Placid

Several figure skaters from Amherst Skating Club competed in the 50th annual Lake Placid Summer Figure Skating Championships held in Lake Placid, N.Y. from July 5 to 7.

The competition was hosted by the Skating Club of Lake Placid and the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority.

Clarence's Amanda Gordon won junior ladies short program and freestyle. Orchard Park's Rachel Cromwell took fifth.

Brooke Sinatra took second in the intermediate ladies short program group C and third in the intermediate ladies freestyle group C.

In novice ladies freestyle, Bridget Hughes took fourth and Alexis Christ was fifth.

Also taking fifth were Abby Hughes (pre-preliminary girls freestyle group A), Jennifer Zhang (juvenile girls freestyle group B) and Mary Jo Russo (intermediate ladies freestyle group B).
