Woman, 75, critical after accident on Maple Road

Amherst police responded to an accident at Maple and Sweet Home roads at 2:42 p.m. Monday.

According to the police report, a 1994 Ford driven by Ingrid Niemczyk, 75, of Williamsville, collided with a 2007 Mercury driven by 44-year-old Michelle Munyan of Liverpool. Munyan had her four children in the vehicle with her.

The report stated that, according to witnesses, Niemczyk ran a red light before striking Munyan's vehicle.

Niemczyk was extricated by North Bailey Fire Company and transported to Erie County Medical Center by Twin City Ambulance. As of Tuesday she was listed in critical condition.

Munyan and her four children were transported to Kenmore Mercy Hospital. She was suffering chest pain.

The two drivers and four children were all properly restrained by seatbelts or child seats.
