Nine juveniles arrested during Old Home Days celebration Amherst police have reported three separate incidents resulting in nine arrests on July 11 in the Village of Williamsville. The first report was at 2:36 p.m. at 56 E. Spring St., when a witness reported that four teenage males were attempting to break into the Williamsville Water Mill. Upon arrival, Officer David Kubiak observed one of the teens swinging a metal pipe and striking a metal window gate. All were taken into custody on criminal mischief charges. Two are 14 years old and two are 15; they will be processed as juveniles. At 9:20 p.m., four other teenage males were taken into custody at 60 E. Spring St., after Officer Lawrence Wanat observed the group throwing rocks at a building. Two windows were damaged. The teens, three age 15 and one age 14, were taken into custody without incident. Another report involved the arrest of a 16-year-old male who approached foot patrol officers at 7:45 p.m. at the Old Homes Days event. According to the report, the teen was "very aggressive" toward the two officers. Those officers then flagged down Officers David Schneider and Thomas Grillo Jr., who were on routine patrol. After allegedly threatening the officers and resisting arrest, the suspect was taken into custody. He is charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Old Home Days was held July 10-13 at Island Park. |
