Douglas Galli was elected president of the Sweet Home Central School District Board of Education at its annual reorganizational meeting held July 10.
He was elected to his second five-year term on the board in May and previously served as vice president.
Carol Nowak was elected vice president of the board.
"When the board goes on its annual retreat in August, we look forward to several topics that are likely to affect the entire year," Galli said.
He said two prominent topics to be discussed next month are school nutrition and communication
between the board and each of the district's six buildings. We will be focusing more on health and nutrition issues, going beyond what the government wants us to do," Galli said.
"We will continue to designate liaisons to each building. This falls in line with our ongoing desire to strengthen communications. We will reach out to each building as well as the various PTO and PTA groups."
Galli also said the board will most likely attempt to hold a joint meeting with the Williamsville School Board, as it did last year.
Galli is vice president of the retail division of The Reid Group, overseeing the operation of a chain of convenience stores.
He is the recipient of the New York State School Board Association Master of Boardsmanship Award, which only 2 percent of board members in the state have received.
