Kathleen E. Roth and Erik P. Heilman

Carol M. and Edward M. Roth III of East Amherst announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathleen E. Roth, to Erik P. Heilman, son of Christine V. and Stephen C. Heilman of Herndon, Va.

Miss Roth graduated from the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1997. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Richmond in 2001. She is an executive assistant to U.S. Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds in Washington, D.C. She will begin the juris doctor program at American University's Washington College of Law in August. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

Her fiance graduated from Herndon High School in 1993. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Colorado in 1997 and a Master of Science degree in comparative politics from the London School of Economics in 2002. He is the director of congressional and public affairs at the Bureau of Industry and Security at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

A December 2007 wedding is planned.
