Business News GEICO, with an office on Crosspoint Parkway in Amherst, has been named among the Top 500 Entry Level Employers for 2007 for the fourth consecutive year by CollegeGrad.com. The company was also named a 2007 top employer for college graduates by The Black Collegian and mentioned in the 2005 Princeton Review's "Best Entry-level Jobs" guidebook. Western Division Federal Credit Union in Williamsville has named its new board of directors and supervisory committee members: Chairperson Christine Newhouse of Snyder; Vice Chairperson Ellen Christy; Treasurer Jeffrey Wagner; Secretary Warren Tulowitzki; and Jerome Siewierski, Samuel Loquasto, Harry Kaczmarek, Francis Markle and Leo Bain, members of the board of directors. The Supervisory Committee named Peter Seitz as chairperson and Ann Marie Spellman, of Williamsville, Deborah Philpott, Robert Brown and Sue Mazella as members. Travers Collins & Company, owned by Bob Travers and Bill Collins, both of Williamsville, was ranked 358th in the country by Advertising Age in its list of top-grossing advertising firms in 2006, jumping 31 spots from its position at No. 389 in 2005. Travers Collins & Company was also recently ranked 120th in PRWeek's list of top-grossing public relations firms, making it the highest-ranking Buffalo-based firm. STL Buffalo, an environmental testing laboratory in Amherst, has been awarded "Laboratory of the Year" honors by Severn Trent Laboratories Inc. In making the announcement, STL President and CEO Rachel Brydon Jannetta cited the outstanding quality and customer service of the Amherst facility. Joseph Hanna of Amherst, an associate at Goldberg Segalla LLP, has been named Defense Research Institute Atlantic marketing chairman for its October 2007 annual meeting, which will be held in Washington, D.C. He will oversee marketing in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. DRI, with more than 22,000 members, is the largest organization of civil defense attorneys in the United States. Damon & Morey LLP recently had Jeffrey D. Palumbo and Brad J. Davidzik join the firm. Both attorneys will be based out of Damon & Morey's newest office in Clarence. Palumbo will serve as special counsel in the firm's real estate department, and chair of the firm's Zoning and Land Use Practice Group. Davidzik is an associate in the firm's real estate department. He is a member of the Construction and Environmental Practice Groups. The American Society of Civil Engineers, Buffalo Section has named Amherst resident Lee Fang, a self-employed engineer, and Williamsville resident Kenneth Wojtkowski, an engineer for TVGA, Inc., as directors for the 2007-08 term. A total of five directors from the Buffalo area were named. Stand Advertising, LLC in Amherst has been honored with a Gold Excalibur Award from the Buffalo/Niagara Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Stand Advertising was entered in the special events and observances category with its fifth birthday celebration, Cinco do Stando. The winning entry was "Chip in for Charity," for each $250 raised, President and Chief Strategist Janet Barnes slid down a slide into 50-gallons of salsa. Proceeds benefited for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western New York. |
