Canisius College hockey to host coaches clinic

Canisius College hockey coach and Amherst resident Dave Smith will host a coaches clinic on the school's campus from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Some of the topics to be discussed are practice organization and execution, skill development on offense, defense and goaltending, teaching special teams, team building and scouting. Coaches from all levels are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the interaction and networking opportunities with other clinic participants and panel members.

Along with Smith, scheduled members of the panel include Buffalo Sabres Director of Pro Scouting Jon Christiano, Director of Fitness and Medical for NHL officials David Smith, Buffalo State College hockey coach Nick Carriere, Buffalo Jr. Sabres coach Grant Ledyard and Mercyhurst College hockey coach Rick Gotkin.

Registration is currently available on GoGriffs.com or by calling the Canisius College hockey office at 888-2973. The cost is $75 for registrations received before Aug. 1, with the price increasing to $85 for registrations received after Aug. 1.
