Gertrude E. Denneville, helped husband run funeral home

Gertrude E. Denneville, 98, formerly of Amherst, who helped her husband, George, run the Denneville Funeral Home on Ontario Street in Buffalo from 1945 to 1972, died Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Center in Clarence.

Born in Rochester, she graduated from Churchville High School and from Genesee Hospital School of Nursing where she received her registered nursing degree in 1930.

Mrs. Denneville worked at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for four years before moving to Buffalo. She was a nurse at the American Brass Co. in Buffalo from 1938 to 1945.

Mrs. Denneville was a member of the Occidental Starlight Chapter 571 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies' Oriental Shrine and a former member of the Kenmore Zonta Club.

She had a winter home at Tampa Bay Beach in Florida from 1972 to 1997.

Her husband, George, died in 1997.

Mrs. Denneville is survived by a sister, Mildred Salisbury of Bergen, N. Y.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 11 from D. Lawrence Ginnane Funeral Home, 3215 Delaware Ave., Kenmore.
