This antique car was one of hundreds displayed at the 2006 Amherst and Williamsville Rotary Classic Car Show at the Amherst Pepsi Center. This year's show will be held 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday, July 15.
Hundreds of snazzy, polished classic cars will be on display at the Amherst Pepsi Center this Sunday.

The fourth annual Amherst and Williamsville Rotary Classic Car Show and Family Fun Day is expected to draw car enthusiasts from around the country, showing off their vehicles from various eras.

Chairman Rickey (Lincoln) Wojtowicz, who is a Rotary Club member, has showcased his car in past shows, and said the nationally recognized judges will be overseeing the large variety of competitions.

"Prizes won at this show are worth serious bragging rights," he said. There are more than 20 categories, with three winners in each class, and special awards being handed out during the show.

Vehicles will be shown outside, as well as on the ice rinks at the Pepsi Center, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive, across from the University at Buffalo's North Campus.

The event begins at 10 a.m. with judging at noon, Sunday, July 15. A chicken barbecue by Bijou Cafe will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the cost is $8. To order a dinner, call 632-8891. Also at 4 p.m. the awards for the cars will be announced.

Throughout the day a basket auction, crafts, ice skating and face painting, provided by Amherst Y.E.S., will be available. At noon the U.S. Marines Drill Team will parade its colors.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Amherst Youth Foundation, which run the Youth and Family Center at 5005 Sheridan Drive. The center houses Melissa's Coffeehouse and an after-school program. The Williamsville, Amherst South, East and North Rotary clubs plan the event.
