.The $185,000 no bid engineering contract awarded to the Williamsville firm of record should be voided ASAP. A wide range of alternative views should have been sought to inject the latest design and technology improvements into the sewer project.

.It's obvious that most members of the planning board are unaware of the traffic congestion and pollution with which they have already victimized our community. Residents of Amherst, take a look at their devastation. Permitting a huge Benderson complex on Maple is but another of their colossal mistakes.

.While Williamsville Mayor Mary Lowther may be an excellent events coordinator in staging the Farmers Market and the Strawberry Festival, she is a poor administrator when it comes to overseeing public works. The taxpayers are under- served.

.We attended the fireworks display at the University of Buffalo on July 4. As in previous years, we arrived early to enjoy live music in the park. What a disappointment to be entertained by a rock band. Where was the beautiful, patriotic music that we had come to expect from previous years? What a disgrace to be entertained in this way on our nation's birthday. Also, during the fireworks themselves, recorded music was played. I heard only two patriotic songs during the entire time. Shame on the people who organized this program.
