Jamie Farrell and Moriah Knowl, 2007 graduates of Sweet Home High School, received Sweet Home Service Awards, a $500 scholarship, from the Amherst Lions Club. The awards are based on their involvement in community service activities and academic achievement.

Dave Whissel of Amherst and a junior at Denison University has been selected as a Young Scholar. His project, "Ethical Economics: A Normative Examination of Economic Institutions Through the Lens of Ethical Theory," will be advised by Associate Professor Theodore Burczak. Whissel is a 2005 graduate of Amherst Central High School. The Young Scholar program is designed to give outstanding students the opportunity to conduct summer research on a one-to-one basis with a member of the faculty or independently with faculty supervision.
