Verizon FiOS Internet available in Amherst

From gaming and movies to video and Web conferencing to e-mail and shopping, anything people in the Northtowns area want to do on the Internet just got faster.

Verizon, currently building an advanced digital, fiber-optic network, now has FiOS Internet service available to customers in parts of Amherst, announced on July 2.

Currently, FiOS Internet is available in Amherst north of Kensington Avenue and west of Kings Highway. Additional areas to the west will be available later this month. Verizon will continue to launch the service through other parts of town, including neighborhoods in the Hopkins and Klein area, north of Maple Road, south of Heim Road, west of Youngs Road and east of North Forest Road.

Additional parts of the Buffalo area will become eligible for the service, as Verizon continues to deploy its new fiber-optic network. FiOS Internet is already available in parts of West Seneca, Hamburg and Orchard Park, along with many other communities throughout New York state.

FiOS Internet was recently named to the top five of PC World Magazine's 100 Best Products of 2007. The only Internet service to make the prestigious list, Verizon FiOS Internet was ranked fourth on the roster. The service also ranked first in PC World's latest "Best and Worst ISPs" survey.

Verizon FiOS was the only service to achieve top ratings in each of the survey's nine categories: overall satisfaction, connection reliability, download speed, upload speed, customer service, technical support, e-mail service, spam blocking and antivirus/security.

For information on the service, call 888-GET-FIOS (888-438-3467) or visit www.verizonfios.com. Customers can also visit Verizon's kiosk at the Boulevard Mall.
