Singer
Larry Singer of Snyder is the recipient of the 2007 American Cash Flow Association President's Award. Singer is the chief operating officer of Capital Funding Group. This is Singer's fourth achievement award through the ACFA, which honors a member who has exhibited leadership and has contributed to the association and its membership.

Patricia Fitzgerald of Williamsville was awarded the Meritorious Service Award from the WNY Association of Homes and Services for the Aging at its recognition banquet. She is the executive director of Asbury Point and administrator of Blocher Homes.

Andrew L. Odien of Amherst was recently hired by TVGA Consultants. He will be working within TVGA's Transportation Group. Odien is a recent graduate of the University at Buffalo, where he received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering with a concentration in structural engineering.

Rachel L. Voerg of Amherst has been named the new assistant director of alumni relations at Canisius College. She previously was an assistant director of admissions at Canisius. She will be assisting with the implementation and management of the college's alumni relations program.

Kathleen Romanowski-Vallone of Snyder has been appointed as communications director for YMCA Buffalo Niagara. She will be responsible for overseeing the communications efforts for the YMCA, as well as promotion of programs and camps.

Debra Ryan Parkot, RN, was awarded the Trocaire College Distinguished Alumna Award for 2007. She was a member of the class of 1977. She is the vice president for Mission Integration and patient representative at St. Joseph Hospital. She is also primary planner nad advocate for the health services outreach at the Catholic Health System.

Jill Syracuse of Amherst has been named senior vice president of member services by Independent Health. She will be responsible for overseeing member services and internal operations including enrollment and claims. She has been with Independent Health since 1985.

Christina M. Hassler of East Amherst will head the expanded workers' compensation law defense practice at Kenney Shelton Liptak Nowak LLP. She will handle matters on behalf of corporations and insurance companies. She has devoted her practice exclusively to workers' compensation law for the past eight years.

David J. Nasca of Williamsville has been named a member of the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees. President and chief executive officer of Evans National Bank, he is also president of the Canisius College Alumni Association Board and member of several other community boards.

Eileen Nowak of East Amherst was appointed department director of Parish Outreach and Advocacy for Catholic Charities. She has served as executive director of the Ladies of Charity of the Diocese of Buffalo for 17 years. In 2006, she was chairman of the Ladies of Charity National Convention hosted in Buffalo.

Larry DiGiulio of Amherst has been named vice president and general counsel for Independent Health and will be responsible for all legal matters. He has been senior deputy counsel at Independent Health since 2004. Prior to joining Independent Health, DiGiulio worked at the law firms of Jaeckle Fleischman and Mugel, LLP, and Damon & Morey, LLP.

Vinayagam Gunasekaran of Snyder has been named an associate analyst at Jeffrey M. Goldfarb & Associates. His duties include research, tracking, and back-testing exchange-traded funds. He was hired at the firm after completing a three-month internship in 2006.
