Knights of Columbus present $10,000 to diocese

More than 200 members of the Knights of Columbus from throughout the Diocese of Buffalo gathered at Fr. John Schaus Council in Lancaster for the Western New York Chapter's 10th Annual Bishop's Burse.

Among the many contributors to the Burse was State Advocate Charles Esposito of Williamsville who was representing State Deputy Anthony L. Preziosi. Esposito presented Bishop Edward U. Kmiec with a $10,000 check from the New York State Council Knights of Columbus during the event.

The New York State Council presents similar checks to each of the Ordinaries of Dioceses throughout the state. Monies are raised through the Knight's annual Charitable and Benevolent Program statewide. This year, the New York State Special Olympics was also the recipient of a donation in the amount of $45,000 as a result of this program.

Since its inception 10 years ago, area councils and Fourth Degree assemblies have contributed more than $150,000 to the Bishop's Burse in support of the Diocesan Seminarian Program.
