'AAA' Red Sox double up Blue Jays, complete regular season undefeated

The Mel Ott "AAA" Red Sox completed an unbeaten regular season, winning their 15th game with a 14-7 triumph over the Blue Jays.

A balanced offense was the story of the game as a number of Red Sox contributed at the plate. Mitch Daddario was 3 for 4 with a run scored while Jeff Becker, Dominick Cavaretta and Corey Hackbush each recorded two hits. Cal Jackson added a triple and scored two runs.

Starting pitcher David Lyskawa was strong in support, going three innings, allowing one run and striking out four.

The Red Sox are the top seed heading into the playoffs.

Thunder 12, Blue Claws 4

The Thunder had their bats going against the Blue Claws.

RBI singles from Kelly Shantler, Allison Balk, and Emilee Foster in the first inning helped build a 5-3 lead.

In the second, Emma Longo, Kaitlin Jacobbi, and Morgan Maley had nice singles. Hannah Stroud added one in the third and in the fourth, Kim Brace lined a double into left field and Maley smashed a bases loaded shot into left that brought in two runs. Stroud added an RBI double in the fifth followed by a RBI singles from Sarah Block, Brace and Maley.

Defensively, the Thunder shut down the Blue Claws after the first inning. Great pitching from Jacobbi, Foster (five strikeouts), and Maley helped keep most of the Blue Claws off the base paths. When they did reach base, some great plays in the field kept them from mounting a comeback.

In the second inning, Longo, playing first base, made a great catch on a pop-up and Mia Martin did the same at third base.

In the third, Balk, playing third base, stopped a hard hit ball and threw to Shantler at first for the first out. A heads up play by Martin in the fifth helped secure the victory.

Playing right center field, Martin charged a ball that got through the infield and was able to throw to second base, forcing out the runner coming from first.

'AA' baseball

Blue Jays 7, Reds 6

It was an exciting game on June 23 between the Blue Jays and the Reds.

Austin Wilson and Dana Neal both continued their hitting streak. Matthew Meloon and Will Schultz pitched a great game. DJ Richeal and David Lauer did a fine job catching.

Rounding out the fielding was Conner Zak, Tony Delavella, Jonathan Mason, Ricky Millville, Ryan House and Gregory Johnson. Richeal drove in the winning run.

'AA' baseball

Reds 7, Cardinals 6

It was a well-played game by both teams. The Reds' Devin Miller made two plays at second base. Brendan Irr had two hits and two runs scored and Braxton Tillery had two hits for the Reds.

The Cardinals were led by Kyle Ciehomski with two hits and two runs scored and Kenny Meshlovitz had a hit and walk.

'A' baseball

Red Sox 13, Mets 2

In "A" baseball, the Red Sox ran the record to 10-2-1 with a 13-2 victory over the Mets.

The Red Sox got their offense from Dylan Kowalik and Justin Bucher who each had two hits and from Joseph Torrillo's bases loaded double. Andre Torrico led the Red Sox pitchers with two strong innings.

'Minor' softball

Heat 12, Force 5

The Heat put together eight hits and 12 runs in a 12-5 victory over the slugging Force.

Isabella Calloway, Christine Hafner, and Emily Dunne each scored a run to help the Heat offense. Heat pitchers Jessica Strauss and Victoria Rigler combined for a season-high 13 strikeouts in keeping the high-powered Force in check.

Samantha Rohloff made a terrific catch at home plate for the final out to secure the win.

Heat 11, Bandits 7

Pitcher Victoria Rigler caught a pop-up to double off a Bandit runner in a hard-fought 11-7 win.

Rigler, Jessica Strauss, and Lauren Downen all contributed with excellent defensive play to keep the hard-hitting Bandits at bay.

The Heat moved into first place in the division with a 9-3 record.
