North's Wilcox named to All-WNY boys lax team

Rob Wilcox spearheaded the Williamsville North defense for four years and was recently honored as the only Town of Amherst boys lacrosse player to make the All-Western New York first team.

Amherst Central senior midfielder

Dan Lawson and junior defender Tim Monahan and attacker

Casey Rich as well as Sweet Home goalie Chris Lyon made the All-WNY second team.

Here's a list of players from the Town of Amherst who won postseason league honors.

Williamsville North

Wilcox (64 ground balls) and attackman Evan Bryant (led team with 30 goals, 34 assists, fourth with 42 ground balls) made the Class A first team. Brent Rickan and Mike Jaszka earned second team honors.

Sweet Home

Lyon and long stick midfielder Jim Cardinale (led team with 93 ground balls) made the Class B first team. Eric Schnirel and Colin Cardinale (led team with 35, 55 points, third on team with 63 ground balls) earned second team honors.

Amherst Central

Monaha (93 ground balls), Lawson (27 goals, 39 points), and Rich (led team with 42 goals, 64 points) earned Class B first team honors. Brent Doerflein (32 goals, 56 points), Chris (44 ground balls) Brunetto, and Will Africano (16 goals, 27 points, led team with 191 ground balls) made the second team.

Williamsville East

Junior defender Rashawn Durden and sophomore midfielder Derek Frost made the Class B first team. Junior Ryan Sheehan and sophomore Austin Weil picked up second team accolades.

Williamsville South

Defender Nick Brace was the only Billie to make the Class B first team. Mike Quinlan made the second team.
