Sandpainting demo set

Mitchell Silas will share his knowledge of the the healing art of Din© Sandpainting at 7 p.m. Monday, July 2 at the Amherst Baha'i Center, 2218 Kensington Ave. between Main Street and Harlem Road in Amherst.

Silas is a full-blooded Navajo, born and raised on the Navajo Reservation. He has been Sandpainting in healing ceremonies for over thirty-five years, since his early teens when he began assisting the different singers (medicine men).

Mitchell has traveled for many years demonstrating the rarely seen in public ceremonial Sandpaintings and showing his permanent works.

He has traveled across the continent many times and from Yukon into Mexico and also toured Northern Europe, Africa, Russia, Israel and throughout the North American continent.
