What is at stake with tree removal

In the present, some in Amherst do not want to walk away from a few million dollars in federal aid to cut trees. But, how many millions in federal aid would Amherst seek in the future in the wake of flooding and shifting of foundations that will occur if we remove 10,000 large tree root systems?
