A BPO tradition

The Buffalo Philharmonic will play ball with the Buffalo Bisons during its annual Independence Eve celebration at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, when the Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings at Dunn Tire Park, Buffalo.

Conductor Paul Ferington will lead the BPO following the game in a selection of memorable tunes and patriotic classics followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

The music program begins with the charming "Be Our Guest" from "Beauty & the Beast" and continues with excerpts from "E.T.," Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait," selections from "West Side Story" and a medley from "Mary Poppins."

There will also be a star-spangled spectacular sing-along featuring "You're a Grand Ol' Flag," "I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy" and "God Bless America." The classic "1812 Overture" then leads into a spectacular fireworks display.
