Lauren Latona and Emily Williams led Williamsville East's girls lacrosse honors. Both were named to the All-Western New York first team, All-ECIC first team, and along with Erica Sizemore, earned Academic All-American honors.

Courtney Vitello also made the All-ECIC first team. Aleece Burgio, Sarah DiPofi, Brittni Hargis, and Sizemore made the second team. Emily Dehlinger and Alyssa Drozynski were honorable mention.

Williams was named team MVP attack. Sizemore was team MVP on defense. Lauren LaPoint was most improved.

The Sheridan Park Friday Golf Club held its annual 9-hole Cancer Tournament to benefit Hospice.

Thelma Frauenhofer posted the overall low net score of 31. Joy Denzak (44-11-33) won Class A. Marion Mingle (50-15-35) won Class B. Elsie Schreiber (51-18-33) won Class C. Carol Nikel (52-20-32) won Class D.

Twenty-five skaters received Certificates of Achievement for their participation in the Inline Skater development program, presented by Edventures of the Williamsville Community Education Program.

Samantha Greene (6 and under), Zehra Shah (14 and under) and Jaclyn McKewan (adult) were selected as most improved skaters within their groups. Other notable skaters include David Yang and Jenna Artist (14 and under), James Montgomery (adult), Finnegan Sayers and Trey Perry (6 and under). Skaters worked to improve backward and forward skating, turning techniques, and stopping methods. For more information, call program director Kit Perusih at 626-8080.

Williamsville East baseball held their annual banquet on June 12. Seniors Nick Kanutsu (most valuable player), Zach Miller (most valuable pitcher), Mike Ferguson (Flames award), and Mike Terryberry (distinguished senior) all took home team honors. Senior Eric Charlton and junior Mark Guenther won most improved award.

Junior Gary Styn won the team's unsung hero award. Flames earning ECIC Division II first team honors were Mike Zeoli (senior, outfield), Guenther (outfield), Kanutsu (infield), and Miller (pitcher). Styn (outfield), junior pitcher Josh DiMarco, Ferguson (infield), and Charlton (designated hitter) earned second team honors.

Terryberry (catcher), senior pitcher Jordan Karnath, and junior infielder Chris Schiumo were honorable mention.

A golf tournament to raise funds to send middle and high school students to Student Leadership University will be held on Monday, June 25 at Arrowhead Golf Club, 12292 Clarence Center Road, Akron.

The event is a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start with awards and a lunch reception to follow. Student Leadership University, based in Orlando, Fla., is a comprehensive leadership program.
