Maryvale plans basketball camp Maryvale's basketball staff, in conjunction with the Maryvale Community Education program, is preparing to host its two annual basketball camps within the next month. The first camp, Maryvale's Boys and Girls camp, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 25-29 at the middle and high schools. The second camp, Hoopville Basketball Shooting camp, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 5-6 at the high school. Both camps are co-ed and not limited to those in the Cheektowaga area. The Boys and Girls camp is an instructional and competitive camp for girls entering grades 5-10 in the fall and boys entering grades 5-9. The camp, which costs $100, will include all phases of the game, league play, individual contests and awards. Each camper will receive professional instruction from area high school coaches, and all participants will receive a camp T-shirt. Enrollment is limited to 80 campers total. The Hoopville Shooting Camp is geared towards players in grades 5 through college looking to develop a consistent shot - campers will learn how to shoot, why they miss and how to make the necessary adjustments to improve, all while taking a minimum of 500 shots each day. The camp will include a pre- and post-camp shooting evaluation and analysis, as well as shooting instruction and drills. All participants will receive a camp T-shirt. Early registration is encouraged because enrollment is very limited. To register for either camp, call the Maryvale Continuing Education office at 635-4666. For more information about either camp, contact Maryvale varsity coach Mark Kensy at 681-6291 or email him mkensy@clar.wnyric.org. |
