Joseph Mendelson Jr., advertising agency owner

Joseph Mendelson Jr., 79, of Williamsville, owner of Joe Mendelson & Associates, a consumer products advertising and public relations agency, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Hospice House in Cheektowaga.

Born in Brooklyn, he attended New York Military Academy and United States Army Counterintelligence Corps School. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954.

Mr. Mendelson received a bachelor's degree from Union College and did graduate studies at the University at Buffalo.

He was senior vice president of Weil, Levy & King Inc. He was a news writer and producer for National Broadcasting Corp. and Columbia Broadcasting System in New York and Buffalo.

Mr. Mendelson is survived by a son, Joseph III; a brother, Robert; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 28 at Unitarian Universalist Church of Amherst, 6320 Main St. Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home.
