UB South to hold farmer's market

A new farmer's market featuring local sellers of fruits, vegetables and preserves will open June 30 in the parking lot north of Allen Hall on the University at Buffalo South Campus, on Main Street near Kenmore Avenue.

The University Community Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 31, rain or shine.

A collaboration between the UB Office of Community Relations, University Heights Collaborative and Eggertsville Community Organization, the market will provide area residents a quick, convenient and fun place to find fresh, nutritious and locally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as delicious jellies and jams.

"There's a great deal of enthusiasm out there for this project," said Pamela Beal, neighborhood outreach coordinator for UB Community Relations. "It's a great opportunity for collaboration with the local community on an event that adds to the assets of the neighborhood."

The individuals running the market will consist of local neighborhood volunteers.

Vendors who have already made commitments to the market include Ieraci Farm of Lewiston and Independence Hill Farm of Friendship for vegetables and fruits, Honey Bee Farm of North Tonawanda for honey, and Nancy Bryant of Independence Hill Farm for jams and jellies.
