Gilda's Club Western New York co-founder Shelley Hirshberg was honored by Gilda's Club Worldwide with the Master of Gilda Magic Award at the organization's annual conference.

Hirshberg, a Snyder resident, received the award for her years of vision and service to establish Gilda's Club WNY, for providing dynamic leadership, mentoring and support and for contributing her time and talents locally, regionally and across North America. Hirshberg chaired the steering committee to bring Gilda's Club to WNY and served as chairwoman of the board of directors.

She is a member of the Affiliate Network Council.

"Shelley has devoted nine years to helping make Gilda's Club Western New York one of the finest affiliates in our North American network, and we are grateful for her leadership, her finely tuned spirit of voluntarism and her partnership in assuring emotional and social support for those living with cancer," said Joan Licursi, senior vice president for Strategic Growth for Gilda's Club Worldwide.

Hirshberg is executive director of the P2 Collaborative of Western New York, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health of people in the community.
