Jolly Boys names 2007 scholarship recipients

The Jolly Boys Community Service Incentive Scholarship Committee has named the six students who will each receive a $6,000 scholarship award.

The winners are: Williamsville South High School students Katherine E. Allen, Christina Besstak and Patrick Pidgeon; East High School student Adam Korn; St. Joseph Collegiate Institute student Michael Brignone; and Sacred Heart Academy student Meghan Warner.

The Jolly Boys also awarded smaller scholarships to 13 high school seniors who participated in the Amherst Youth Court: Will Africano, Nick Blum. Amanda Chertoff, Kiturram Dara, Valerie Dvinova, Jordan Fried, Jeff Long, Ellen Ogorek, Andrea Pratt, Jonathan Scutrum, Clarie Wietig, Meagan Wilkinson and Emile Williams.

"The committee wishes to recognize and thank all the outstanding applicants who filed applications this year," said Geoffrey K. Klein, chairman of the scholarship committee. "They were outstanding and well-deserving in their own right and made the committee's decisions very difficult."
